The Art

Nuno felting is a method of working wool roving or other fibers into another fabric, such as silk, gauze, or any open weave fabric. This technique was developed by Polly String, a fiber artist from Australia.

Wet felting is a process of layering tufts of wool roving and then wetting with hot, soapy water. The fibers are then worked together by rubbing with your hands on the fibers. The shrinking and rubbing binds the wool fibers together forming the fabric.

The Artist

Donna Kift Schuman has a creative spirit. That creativity has been channeled in different directions during the course of her life. She has learned to do ceramics, batik, jewelry making, glass fusing, home decorating, photography, and mini art camps with her children. Most recently, working with wool has become a passion. The colors and tactile nature of roving are inspiring. Combining beautiful roving with luxurious silk fabrics and magic happens.
